Mission Statement The Grey Literature Network Service was founded in 1992. The goal of GreyNet is to facilitate dialog, research, and communication between persons and organisations in the field of grey literature. GreyNet further seeks to identify and distribute information on and about grey literature in networked environments. Its main activities include the International Conference Series on Grey Literature, the creation and maintenance of web-based resources, a moderated Listserv, a combined Distribution List, The Grey Journal (TGJ), and curriculum development in the field of grey literature.

| GreyNet Award Recipient 2008 |

Anne Gentil-Beccot, CERN - European Organization for Nuclear Research is the GreyNet Award Recipient 2008. This award is in recognition for her contribution to the field of grey literature over the past year. Nominations for the GreyNet Award are based on (1) Results from the GL9 Participant Evaluation Forms, (2) Publication of the author’s full-text paper in the GL9 Conference Proceedings, (3) Selection and publication of the author’s conference paper as a journal article, whereby research results originating in the GL-Conference Series are exported and become accessible via other channels, (4) Prior history of the author and her organization on the topic of grey literature, and (5) Willingness to attend the GreyNet Award Dinner in order to personally receive the honor.

Two Thousand Seven was a great year for Grey Literature and GreyNet:

2007 marked the 15th Anniversary of GreyNet (1992-2007), the Grey Literature Network Service;

In 2007, the 11th edition of Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary included the term gray literature for the general public;

In 2007, Bertrum MacDonald and his team of researchers at Dalhousie University in Halifax (former GreyNet Award Recipients, 2004) applied for and received a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. They will study the use and impact of grey literature on environmental subjects produced by national and international agencies;

In 2007, the Online History Award, sponsored by the American Library Association was presented to Faith Jones for her work on the Yizkor Book Project. At GL7 in Nancy, France, Gretta Siegel co-authored and presented a paper together with Faith Jones titled "Yizkor Books as Holocaust Grey Literature";

In 2007, the first college course for credit carrying the title 'Grey Literature' was constructed and implemented by GreyNet at the University of New Orleans (UNO) via their Distance Education Program. The first 9 students completed this course in December for 3 hours of academic credit;

In 2007, GreyNet signed an agreement with INIST-CNRS, the service provider for OpenSIGLE. In so doing GreyNet will provide net-users open access to full-text conference based information in the field of grey literature. The GreyNet Community and its Collections will be OAi compliant via the DSpace platform within OpenSIGLE. INIST is the service provider and GreyNet the data provider;

In 2007, Todd A. Chavez, Dr. Anna H. Perrault, Pete Reehling, and Courtney Crummett were co-recipients of GreyNet's Annual Award. This award is in recognition for outstanding contributions to the field of grey literature over the past year. Nominations for the GreyNet Award are based on (1) Results from the Conference Evaluation Forms, (2) Publication of the full text of nominees' paper in the GL Conference Proceedings, (3) Selection and publication of the nominees' paper as a journal article, thus exporting and distributing research results originating in the GL-Series, and (4) Prior history of the authors on the topic of grey literature. The title of their paper reads "The Impact of Grey Literature in Advancing Global Karst Research: An Information Needs Assessment for a Globally Distributed Interdisciplinary Community";
Needless to say, grey literature had a particularly good year and GreyNet is proud of the vintage. All the more reason to take stock in 2008, for grey literature promises yet another productive year!

| GreyNet Publications from 1994-2000 via BLDSC |
GreyNet publications from 1994-2000 are now available on interlibrary loan/document delivery via the British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC) in Boston Spa, UK. These include the Proceedings of the first four international conferences in the GL-series (ISSN 1386-2316), as well as the 4th edition of the Annotated Bibliography on the Topic of Grey Literature (ISBN 90-74854-26-5). Together these five information resources contain the full text of some 120 papers and more than 750 bibliographic records most of which are annotated, and are a valuable resource for authors, researchers, and students.
